13th War Dogs - History and origin

Planet Information:

Named after the first capital of the former Terran country of Poland, Poznan was colonized by refugees from Poland, Portugal, and Spain during the great exodus from Terra. This arid world is covered in jungles as well as harsh deserts. The planet's seven continents offered a variety of environments for the early colonists. Two of the continents, Boleslaw and Mieszko, were located in the northern hemisphere and were settled by the Poles most because the continents resembled their former homeland. Boleslaw is larger and has more mountains. Mieszko has more flatlands and rolling hills, and has the largest freshwater lake on the planet, Lake Lednica. Both continents produce iron ore, petroleum, and various agricultural products.

By far the largest group of settlers colonizing Poznan were from Spain. They claimed the four largest continents, located mostly in the equatorial zone, naming them Barcelona, Palma, Seville, and Zaragoza. On Barcelona, the largest of the four, they set up the eventual planetary capital of New Madrid. Here they thrived and traded with their neighbors in the north and south. The refugees from Portugal settled on the island continent of Galicia. Galicia was rich in minerals, precious metals, and titanium ore.

During the next two centuries, Poznan flourished-but not without strife. A civil war was fought between the Poles and Spaniards over Palma. The war was ugly and brutal. The Spaniards won, and a planetary government was formed. Shortly after that war, they were offered membership into the Duchy of Liao in 2320. Over the next three hundred years, Poznan's population increased tenfold, with many of Chinese descent immigrating and pushing the Spaniards into the minority - and they were treated as such.

When Davion forces captured Poznan during the Fourth Succession War, they helped relieve the oppression caused by the Chinese population. When the Confederation regained control, the people were wary of their future. The Chancellor decreed that nothing would change, and left the current leadership in place. This act did more to win the hearts of the people than anything else.
Technological Development:

Advanced world with access to many new technologies; world hosts universities; good medical care available, though without benefit of bionics and other cutting-edge technologies; basic microelectronics industry.
Industrial Level:

Moderately industrialized; may produce a limited number/quantity of specific complex products.
Raw Material Dependence:

World/system produces all the raw materials needed and commonly exports large quantities of surplus.
Industrial Output:

World has a moderate industrial base that produces a few different categories of products, exporting some of the output.
Agricultural Development:

World has abundant environment producing enough to sustain the population using agriculture technologies; limited exports.

13th War Dogs History:

3024 - Tired of the constant opression and racial discrimination by the Chinese rulers of Poznan, a planet originally settled by Spanish, Portuguese, and Polish peoples, members of the 13th War Dogs Platoon, an infantry unit attached to the planetary militia in the island continent of Galicia, go rogue and join other rebel elements in hidding, greatly adding to its effectiveness by being a unit trained in anti-mech tactics.

3025 - A MIIO team (Federated Suns covert ops) infiltrates Poznan and establishes contact with rebel cells around the world. Volunteers of the 13th War Dogs Platoon receive training in Battlemech piloting, using Mechs captured from Liao militia in a MIIO-run operation.

3026 - By 3026, the War Dogs have a full lance of Battlemechs on the field, complemented by the remaining elements of the anti-mech infantry platoon and other more basic rebel infantry units that have been receiving training in guerilla tactics since the arrival of the MIIO team.

20-08-3028* - Hanse Davion and Melissa Steiner wed on Terra, with the leader of every Successor State present, including their aides, heirs, and other VIPs. At the wedding reception, Hanse Davion uttered one of the most quoted lines in Inner Sphere history, "My dear... I give you the Capellan Confederation.".

3028 to 3029 - With continued success against Liao government forces, by 3028 the War Dogs are fielding a full company of Battlemechs, and successfully capture the regional military HQ, effectively gaining control of the Galicia continent. two months later, units of the Twelfth Vegan Rangers, a Davion mercenary unit, invade Poznan, using Galicia as a base of operations. The War Dogs are sent over-seas to join other rebel units and assist the Davion force in gaining control of the other continents. The six regiments of lightly armed Liao planetary militia are easily defeated.

3030 - The Spanish minority in the capital New Madrid put their support behind the invading force and install an interim government, Poznan is now a Federated Commonwealth world. By the end of the war, the Federated Suns conquered roughly a third of the Capellan Confederation, these conquered worlds were incorporated into the Federated Commonwealth as the Sarna March. The War Dogs are invited to officially join the AFFS military, but choose to remain independent as a mercenary unit. In return of the service to House Davion and the Federated Commonwealth, they are given control of Galicia as a base of operations. During the next 9 years, they are tasked with the rebuilding and training of the new planetary militia.

3038 - With the arrival of The Dispossessed battalion, another unit involved in the conquest of Poznan from House Liao, in the continent of New Barcelona, the War Dogs organize a series of inter-continental exercises to test the effectiveness of the Poznan militia, with satisfactory results and the strenghtening of relations between the two units.

3039 - Both The Dispossessed and the War Dogs are contracted by House Davion to conduct raids behind Kurita lines at the start of the War of 39. The first engagements are largely successfull, but eventually they are ordered to pull back due to the unexpected turn in the tide of the war.

3039 to 3040 - On their way back, the combined units of The Dispossessed and the War Dogs are diverted to Nashira, to rendezvous with the 7th Donegal Guards in their move to reeinforce the 12th Vegan Rangers, the unit responsible for the conquest of Poznan back in the fourth succession war, in their assault against the Draconis Combine world. Arriving just in time to prevent the famed Genyosha from destroying the Rangers. The fighting however reached a stalemate, and a few months later the AFFS sent the order to recall the units back to Davion space.

3040 - Both The Dispossessed and the War Dogs return to Poznan, and there remain for the next five years.

Story continues with the creation of the 1st Iberic Battlemech Tercio.

As linhas com * foram "inventadas" para inserir a nossa história no battletech canon/lore, as outras é história battletech oficial.

As últimas 3 é mais para dar um resumo dos eventos importantes que antecederam a invasão dos clans, na verdade foi uma década muito pacifica e não aconteceu muita coisa (após a guerra de 39).

Felizmente tinha bom material com que trabalhar, sendo Poznan o único mundo que encontrei com informação de ter sido colonizado por Portugueses (entre outros), e o facto de sermos discriminados pelos chinocas de Liao deu logo um emporrão para basear as nossas origens como um grupo de guerrilha que embora sozinho não pudesse fazer muito, foi fundamental no apoio à invasão quando esta aconteceu. Daí a gente ser oficialmente ligados a Davion, pela história sem eles não teriamos evoluido.

Editei o post original do Draco, alguns elementos pó fim da história não estavam actualizados, meti também umas imagens e irei meter noutro post a história do Terço onde a nível de role-play estamos inseridos, e penso ser uma leitura interessante
